Dubai’s Moving Skyscraper

Perhaps one of the most ‘out there’ building designs ever to be created; the Dynamic Tower as it will be known, is the world’s first moving building.

The tower will be made up of 80 apartments which will be able to spin independently of each other which will create an ever moving tower with city views of 360 degrees. The apartments, which will spin on voice command, will take between one and three hours to make a complete rotation and cost from $3.7m to $36m.

The Italian Architect David Fisher states that the building will “never look the same, not once in a lifetime”.

If moving floors was not enough, the Dynamic Tower will also be self-sufficient with 70 giant power-generating wind turbines producing enough electricity to power the entire building and feed power back into the grid.

The tower is due to be finished in 2010 and estimated to cost around $700m to make. To view the Dynamic Tower please see the below video produced by the architects ‘Dynamic Architecture’.
