The Company
A newly established Web Services and Content Provider company in Egypt.
Situation
An Egyptian Web Services company had been set up for two years and was struggling to expand its business whilst at the same time facing severe competition and financial constraints. The financial position was such that a decision had to be made as to whether the original investors should input further funds or make a decision to close the company and attempt to retrieve what they could of their initial investment during that company close.
The local investor required an external, independent consultant to review the current full position of the company and particularly its position as regards competition, current work and contracts, and any potential for expansion. He required a report at the conclusion of the assignment of: (a) Whether or not to close the company: (b) IF the company closed, how would he manage the return of his investment: (c) IF there was potential to continue the company, what would be the best way forward for that, how to restructure the company, what opportunities to chase, etc.
Solution
A full process of interviewing the Senior Management Team took place along with the views and long term objectives of the private investor. In parallel, all key information (Sales Tools, Product Portfolio, Current Contracts, Financial Data, etc.) was collected in addition to local market information and potential prospective clients and other marketing opportunities.
The above were then fully analysed and key meetings with the MD of the company were held to see what potential existed for winning new business, consolidating current business, and ensuring the long term success and viability of the company.
End Result
After all of the above, a Board Meeting was held with the key local investor and all directors of the company whereby a long term plan was presented to consolidate the company (and rationalise the Product Portfolio), win new contracts, and set-up the basis for long term success.
The above was accepted by the Board and Senior Management Team, the company restructured, and new profitable business and long term contracts won to ensure the long term success for the business with new improved returns to the local investor.
